Books
Maxim Popenker and Anthony G. Williams joined to write this book about Assault rifles - it gives a fine overview
about the development of assault rifles, has some info on compact carbines and is an unusually good source on the Russian assault rifle history.
about the AR-15 system
“Black Rifle II: The M16 into the 21st Century” by Christopher R. Bartocci (ISBN: 0889353484)
excellent ballistics book!
“Geschosse” by Beat P. Kneubuehl (ISBN: 3-7276-7145-9) - (in German)
Jane’s Infantry weapons annual reference books - they’re too expensive if new, but I was lucky on ebay.
